The Bowie House Hotel Collection

Jim Bowie and the Hotel that Bears his Name

The Bowie House Hotel is named after the famous Texas soldier and defender of the Alamo, James (Jim) Bowie.  It is located in the heart of the Fort Worth Cultural District, on Camp Bowie Boulevard.  It is just a short walk from several world-famous museums, including: The Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Kimbell Art Museum, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the Will Rogers Memorial Center Complex and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

The Bowie House Hotel is the brainchild of the voracious art collector, Cutting Horse Hall of Fame rider and breeder, Jo Ellard.  She felt Ft. Worth was missing a luxury hotel that would serve the many cultural and horse-loving visitors that come there each year.  So, she built one.   The hotel is a jewel of exquisite detail and amenities, richly decorated with world class art.  Jo has gone so far as to put original art not just in the public spaces, but in the guest rooms as well.  Though most of the works are in her collection, some are also for sale, making the hotel a living gallery.  Of course, Ingrid’s work is featured throughout the hotel, with a selection shown below.
